The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ARE) had a working session on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, with Ms. Kandi Magendo, Public Sector Specialist, and Mr. Lars Johannes, Economist, both members of the World Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group, on an assessment mission in Kinshasa.

This work session aimed at assessing World Bank’s overall performance in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from 2013 to 2024. The meeting addressed the quality of the technical assistance provided by the World Bank team to the electricity sector, with a focus on ways to improve the collaboration and develop strategies in projects implementation. ARE also shared its views on the challenges encountered in carrying out several electricity sector projects, such as the current mini-grid initiatives funded by the World Bank, many of which experiencing significant delays in their implementation due to various reasons.

“We leave satisfied with the rich and constructive discussions held with the ARE teams,” Ms. Magendo emphasized at the end of the meeting.
